Isaac Kwesi Nooni is a Ghanaian by nationality. He obtained Ph.D. in 3S Integration and meteorological Applications at the School of Geographical Sciences, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST) – Nanjing, China.
He holds a master’s degree in Geoinformation Science and Earth Observation from the University of Twente, The Netherlands. Also, he holds another master’s degree in water supply and environmental sanitation engineering and a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering, both from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.
Dr. Nooni is a highly motivated research scientist and a lecturer whose expertise and capabilities complement and broaden across several research portfolios.
His research interest focuses on land-atmosphere feedbacks and hydro-climatic extremes through the novel use of remote sensing datasets (e.g., detection of extreme events, impacts of extremes on water-energy-carbon cycles).
His other research focuses on integrating multi-source remote sensing data and reanalyses data to quantify water cycle dynamics (e.g., evaporation, soil moisture, precipitation, water availability) from watershed level to regional scale.
Dr. Nooni’s current research involves applying machine learning methods to improve monitoring and modelling (e.g., downscaling multi-source remote sensing products, uncertainty quantification, causal inference, etc.) of extreme events.
Currently, he has published six first author SCI (SSCI) articles in top-ranked journals such as the International Journal of Remote Sensing (Taylor and Francis Group, UK), Remote Sensing (MDPI, Switzerland), Water (Remote Sensing (MDPI, Switzerland), Agriculture (MDPI, Switzerland), etc.
He has co-authored over 13 SCI (SSCI) articles in Atmospheric Research (Elsevier), Remote Sensing (MDPI), etc. His publications have received over 300 citations (ResearchGate) as of 2022.
He has reviewed 80 SCI (SSCI) journals (indexed in Web of Science) for different publishers such the Wiley, MDPI, IWA Publishing (UK), Emerald Group Publishing, etc., during the last two years.
