Job Description

Zhongfa Aviation University (ZFAU) seeks exceptional faculty members from all over the world for its School of Civil Aviation, School of Aerospace, School of Informatics, School of Engineering and School of Science.

ABOUT US

Zhongfa Aviation University, funded by Zhejiang Province and the city of Hangzhou, is jointly established by Beihang University and Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile (ENAC). The university is dedicated to multidisciplinary and innovation-oriented education as well as cutting-edge and core technology research. With the goal of becoming a world-class research university, ZFAU will stay committed to establishing a new international university model that is modern and forward-thinking. The campus of ZFAU is situated adjacent to Liangzhu Ancient City, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. The picturesque campus is expected to be completed by 2023 and will provide the most conducive environment for students and staff to live and work. In the present preparatory stage, the university operates from an interim campus in the northwest of Hangzhou.

RESEARCH AREAS

School of Civil Aviation

The School of Civil Aviation focuses on a broad range of research areas including but not limited to space-air-ground integrated network and aeronautical broadband communication, air traffic management and transportation planning, avionics and satellite navigation, general aviation and intelligent operations, and civil aviation finance and regulations.

Applicants are expected to have a strong track record in the fields including but not limited to traffic information engineering and control, transportation planning and management, vehicle operation engineering, communication and information engineering, signal and information processing, computer software and theory, computer applied technology, management science, information management and information systems, engineering management, corporate management, applied mathematics, operational research and cybernetics, pattern recognition and intelligent systems, navigation, guidance and control, systems engineering, and cyberspace security.

School of Aerospace

The School of Aerospace focuses on a broad range of research areas including but not limited to trans-sonic aviation aerodynamics and thermodynamics, green aviation and alternative aviation fuels (AAFs), aerospace big data and its environmental and climatic implications, and unmanned/manned general aviation and unconventional aerospace engineering.

Applicants are expected to have a strong track record in the fields including but not limited to flight vehicle design, aerospace propulsion theory and engineering, man-machine-environment system engineering, engineering thermophysics, thermal power engineering, power machinery and engineering, fluid machinery and engineering, refrigeration and cryogenic engineering, atmospheric physics and atmospheric environment, environmental science, environmental engineering, optics, physical chemistry, optical engineering, measuring and testing technologies and instruments, and circuits and systems.

School of Informatics

The School of Informatics focuses on a broad range of research areas including but not limited to quantum precision measurement, high-performance quantum computation, artificial intelligence, integrated circuit materials and devices, electronic design automation of integrated circuits, aviation microelectronics, and control science and engineering.

Applicants working in quantum precision measurement and high-performance quantum computation are expected to have a strong track record in the fields including but not limited to precision instrument and mechanics, electronic information, quantum optics, and medical physics.

Applicants working in artificial intelligence are expected to have a strong track record in the fields including but not limited to data science, pattern recognition, computer vision, and urban computing.

Applicants working in integrated circuit materials and devices, electronic design automation of integrated circuits, aviation microelectronics are expected to have a strong track record in the fields including but not limited to microelectronics and solid-state electronics, computer science and technology, database, metrology technology and instruments, magnetism, physical electronics, integrated circuit design, computational mathematics, computational and fluid dynamics.

Applicants working in control science and engineering are expected to have a strong track record in the fields including but not limited to navigation, guidance and control, pattern recognition and intelligent systems, analysis and design of precision flexible mechanisms, ultra-precision control systems, nano instrument design, ultra-precision manufacturing systems, and micro nano bionics and intelligent systems.

School of Engineering

The School of Engineering focuses on a broad range of research areas including but not limited to high-temperature/ultra-high-temperature materials, high-temperature functional coating, high-temperature corrosion, advanced lightweight materials, advanced composite materials, new energy materials, optoelectronic materials, digital design and manufacturing integration technology, carbon fiber composites manufacturing process, and robot design and control technology.

Applicants are expected to have a strong track record in the fields including but not limited to material physics and chemistry, materials science, material processing engineering, biomedical materials, mechanical design and theory, machinery manufacturing and automation, mechanical and electronic engineering, industrial and manufacturing systems engineering, and aerospace manufacturing engineering.

School of Science

The School of Science focuses on a broad range of research areas including but not limited to new state of quantum matter, extreme condition physics, and medical physics.

Applicants are expected to have a strong track record in the fields including but not limited to condensed matter physics, theoretical physics, particle physics and atomic nucleus physics, atomic and molecular physics, and medical physics.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should fit one of the four following categories:

Type A (Chair Professor): world-leading scholars.

Type B (Associate Professor/ Full Professor): tenured associate professors/ full professors at top universities or research institutions, OR exceptional scholars with excellence in academic performance and global academic influence. Applicants should hold a doctoral degree from a top university or research institution.

Type C (Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor): assistant professors/ associate professors at top universities or research institutions, OR scholars with an outstanding track record of academic or technological performance in their fields of research. Applicants should hold a doctoral degree from a top university or research institution.

Type D (Postdoctoral Fellow): Ph.D. graduates from top universities with strong scientific research capabilities and recognised academic potential.

SALARY, BENEFITS, AND RESEARCH SUPPORT

Salary and benefits

Each successful applicant will receive an internationally competitive salary (e.g. up to US$77,000 for post-doctors, subsidies included), and a fringe benefit package that includes a rent-free apartment, access to high-quality nursery/primary education for children, etc.

Research support

Successful applicants will be provided with state-of-the-art research platforms, generous research funds, ample laboratory space and excellent office environment, etc (the establishment of tailored research labs will be strongly supported). Academic freedom and a multicultural work environment will be guaranteed.
