Position Summary
Bryant Zhuhai invites applications for a faculty position with expertise in English, Writing, TESOL and/or Cultural Studies. Rank will depend upon both academic credentials and experience. Ideal candidates will have a Masters (minimum) or Ph.D. in English, Writing, TESOL, Linguistics or related disciplines. Native English speakers are preferred. This is a three year appointment beginning August 1, 2022, which may be renewed. The academic year in Zhuhai runs from early September to late June and includes a winter break during Spring Festival (Chinese New Year).
Bryant University-BITZH is a 4-year English immersion, academic program developed in partnership between Bryant University in Smithfield, RI, USA and the Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai (BITZH). In addition to the traditional 4-year academic program, Bryant Zhuhai also supports a 2+2 academic model for students interested in finishing their education at Bryant University or other US institutions of higher learning.
Bryant University-BITZH, which welcomed its first cohort of students in fall 2015, is located in the city of Zhuhai in Guangdong Province in southern China, near Hong Kong and Macau. Guangdong Province is a very important area for China’s economy, providing 10 percent of China’s total GDP and the location for many of China’s innovative manufacturing operations. A 32-mile-long bridge connecting Hong Kong to Zhuhai and Macau, recently opened in 2019, to increase the movement of people and commerce between Hong Kong and mainland China and Macau.
Principal Accountabilities
This position includes teaching undergraduate, introductory courses in
English, Writing, TESOL and/or Cultural Studies, as well as contributing to student growth and development through active involvement in student related activities.
Qualifications
Depending on rank, this position includes teaching undergraduate
courses in English, Writing, TESOL, and/or Cultural Studies, engaging in relevant research, and contributing to student growth and
development through active involvement in student related activities and other institutional service. A minimum of a Master’s degree
in an appropriate field is required; a Ph.D. is preferred. Fluency in both academic and colloquial American English required. Native English
speakers are preferred.
Compensation
Salary is competitive with China educational market conditions. Benefits include travel allowance, health care benefits, the ability to apply for on-campus housing, and relocation allowance (if applicable).
