Senior Lecturer/Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer in Physical Education (Ref. AC2022/023/01)

The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen is established in accordance with the Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Chinese-foreign Cooperation in Running Schools upon approval of the Ministry of Education. It inherits the educational philosophy and academic systems of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. It is intended to evolve into a world class research university with strong Chinese cultural influence. It is committed to nurturing high end talent with global perspective, Chinese tradition and social responsibility.

At present, the University has programmes in science, engineering, economic management, and humanities and social science. Its long term goal is to recruit 11,000 domestic and international students, 7,500 of whom will be undergraduate students and 3,500 Masters or Ph.D. students. The University is located at 2001 Longxiang Boulevard, Longgang District, Shenzhen, China.

School of Humanities and Social Science (HSS) has two important missions for our university’s education. First, HSS provides university core courses for all university students in multiple areas, including general education, English language competency, Chinese language competency, physical education and fitness, basic competency in information technology (IT) applications, etc. These areas lay the foundation for the comprehensive education that all CUHK-Shenzhen students receive.

Beyond the university core curriculum, HSS intends to become a school of excellence in humanities and social sciences, and to provide high-quality programmes in multiple areas at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. At present, HSS offers high-quality master programmes: Master of Arts in Translation and Interpreting Studies (MAT&I), Simultaneous Interpreting (MASI) and Global Studies; and Master of Science in Applied Psychology. At the undergraduate level, HSS offers a high-quality Bachelor of Arts programmes in Translation and English Studies (pending for approval); and Bachelor of Science programme in Applied Psychology.

Post Specification

The appointee is expected to commence work in academic year 2021-2022.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Applicant should have

1. a Master degree or above in Physical Education or Sports Coaching; major in Orienteering, Rock Climbing, Table Tennis, Yoga, or Dancesport;
2. undertaking coaching during term time and summer months; and
3. proficiency in Chinese and English.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The appointee will be responsible for

1. teaching physical education course for undergraduates including international students, as well as courses in physical fitness and health;
2. undertaking coaching during term time and summer months; and

assisting in organizing sports activities and in administrative duties related to physical education.

Salary & Benefits

Salary will be competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made under the establishment of CUHK, Shenzhen and statutory benefits will be provided according to the prevailing labor laws applicable in the PRC. The appointee will be based at the University campus in Shenzhen, PRC.
